PODCAST: Benefits of Customized Patient Payment Plans in Rural Areas
By Marcia Leighton, Executive Director, Client Services
Our Executive Director of Client Services, Marcia Leighton, was invited to sit down with RosettaHealth for a podcast interview to discuss the innovative approach that PatientMatters uses to personalize patient payment plans that benefit both healthcare organizations and patients alike, and why it’s particularly beneficial for rural communities and hospitals.
Traditionally, hospitals have a ‘one size fits all’ approach when it comes to payment plans, however that is not always viable for most people, especially as people have hire deductible plans, and are unable to pay large sums of money at once. Customized payment plans allow hospitals to look at each patient individually and provide them with tailored financial options based on their specific needs to help them manage paying for their care. These payment plans benefit hospitals with improved upfront collections and are particularly helpful for self-pay and high-deductible plan patients. As a result, patients are able to get on a viable payment schedule, and the provider organizations are able to collect the revenue they are entitled to.
Take a listen to this quick podcast to find out more about PatientMatters and the benefits of customized patient payment plans. Highlights of the interview include:
- How and why customized patient payment plans benefit hospitals and patients, and rural communities overall
- How the technology behind the customized payment plans work
- Why the “one-size-fits-all” payment plan mindset needs to change
